History & Tradition - Standing Above the Crowd

The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® is the largest professional trade organization in San Antonio and represents over 10,000  members. SABOR is one of over 1,600 local boards and 54 state and territory organizations of REALTORS® nationwide that make up the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) was organized in 1910, by twenty-two members of the city’s real estate community who felt San Antonio would benefit from a collective membership of REALTORS®. Shortly thereafter, SABOR became affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS®, and in 1920 the Texas Association of REALTORS® was formed under the guidance of SABOR. Only members of the National Association of REALTORS® (through its local board) can be called a REALTOR®.

The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® provides real estate professionals with the education you need to achieve the highest degree of professionalism in your fields. It is one of the few Boards in Texas that is certified by the Texas Real Estate Commission to operate a real estate school. All the courses offered are accredited for broker or salesman licensure. SABOR’s various committees’ also present seminars covering all areas of real estate from financing to equal opportunity in housing.

REALTORS® keep themselves informed on matters affecting real estate in their community, state and nation so that they may contribute responsibly to public thinking. SABOR monitors the legislation and public policy affecting the real estate industry. The National Association of REALTORS® keeps REALTORS® informed on decisions by the United States Congress and engages them with electronic "Calls to Action" regarding private property rights and real estate related issues.
